About The Position

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is seeking a full-time bilingual Advocate for its Crime Victims Advocacy & Support Services Program (CVASSP). The Advocate will report to the Advocate Supervisor and provide advocacy and support services to survivors of violence within the CVASSP program. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$52,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
  • Prior experience working with victims of crime.
  • Strong awareness of emotional needs of crime victims: assessments and coordination of referrals for clinical work in partnership with our Trauma division.
  • Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of resources available to crime victims.
  • Ability to assess for safety and create safety plans.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in linkages to services and provide resources to victims.
  • Accompaniment to court, medical appointment and hearings with law enforcement.
  • Assistance with accessing public benefits.
  • Submitting documentation to obtain billing for services rendered.
  • Providing on-call coverage for afterhours hotline.
  • Other duties as assigned.
