About The Position

The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) advances human rights and due process for immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers through direct legal services, impact litigation, advocacy, and public education. Headquartered in Chicago with offices in Washington, DC, Indiana, and San Diego, NIJC's team of 100 attorneys, paralegals, and professionals, along with 2,000 pro bono attorneys, is at the forefront of immigration reform. The Advocate Training Center Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating various projects related to NIJC's Advocate Training Center ("ATC"), which includes capacity-building, legal resources, and trainings that improve the ability of NIJC staff, pro bono attorneys, and partner organizations to provide services to immigrant communities. This role involves collaborating with legal teams and other stakeholders to define project scope, set timelines, and allocate resources. In the early stages of the role, the ATC Project Coordinator will support the creation of NIJC's Learning Management System. Once the system is established, the coordinator will be responsible for maintaining and updating the platform. In addition, the ATC Project Coordinator is expected to effectively manage data projects to better support NIJC's pro bono teams. The ATC Project Coordinator acts as a liaison between NIJC and external partners and should be comfortable interfacing with pro bono partners and other partner organizations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the human rights field, legal and/or communications work required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to learn and manage web-based databases and/or content management systems.
  • Ability to own a project and involve key stakeholders in ensuring its successful implementation.
  • Excellent training and relationship-building skills, including comfort with public speaking.

Responsibilities

  • Support creation and ongoing maintenance of NIJC's Learning Management System, including uploading trainings and resources and managing quarterly reviews of materials.
  • Implement systems for NIJC trainings for a variety of audiences, ensuring protocols are clear and easy to follow.
  • Facilitate Continuing Legal Education (CLE) registration and maintenance for the organization and serve as internal and external point of contact for CLE trainings.
  • Support the data team in technical project management tasks related to NIJC's pro bono programs. This can include implementing updates to LegalServer to aid pro bono teams in their work and facilitating data pulls as needed to send timely updates to pro bono teams.
  • Cultivate and distribute monthly training round-up for staff and bimonthly pro bono newsletter.
  • Represent NIJC at external events with pro bono partners, including lunch talks and pro bono fairs.
  • Coordinate and oversee all phases of projects and trainings from inception to completion.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project plans, timelines, and workflows.
  • Review and analyze data to assess project performance and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure proper documentation and archival of all project-related materials.
  • Develop and implement best practices and methodologies for project management.
