The Advisory Services Analyst is part of the Optum Advisory - Enterprise Delivery Services (EDS) consulting practice. Enterprise Delivery Services (EDS) is a rapidly growing business that serves clients across the health care ecosystem. We provide on-demand access to consulting talent with unparalleled experience and combine it with premium customer care and flexible contracting, allowing clients to focus on their core capabilities and create an agile workforce that scales with the demands of their business. EDS consultants combine deep healthcare expertise with AI‑enabled delivery approaches, leveraging data-driven tools to accelerate insights, improve decision-making, and drive measurable outcomes across complex enterprise initiatives. Engagements are delivered through a range of structured consulting delivery models that are tailored to client needs, scope, and organizational maturity. Our consultants are engaged to support both internal teams within UnitedHealth Group and external commercial clients in one or more of the following areas: Healthcare Consulting Project and Program Management Business Analysis Product Management Process Transformation Change Management Quality Assurance Data Analysis and Reporting AI‑driven innovation and solution enablement Training, Learning and Development You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Limited travel may be required for this role (less than 25%25 on average over a year’s time but may involve Monday through Thursday travel for multiple concurrent weeks to satisfy specific client project requirements). Consultants who are not local to an Optum office facility work from a home office when not at the client site.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in business analysis, consulting, technology delivery, healthcare, or a related business environment
  • 2+ years of building/creating project deliverables with the ability to manage complex work-streams in a client facing role
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, technology teams, quality assurance, or project delivery teams
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, or advanced analytics platforms) to enhance productivity and deliverables
  • Based in greater Minneapolis, MN OR ability to relocate at own expense to Minnesota OR ability to travel up to 25%25

Nice To Haves

  • Agile / Scrum certified
  • Experience with a nationally recognized consulting firm or a healthcare payer or provider system
  • Experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience in digital health or consumer digital products or services
  • Ability to work in a highly technical, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify issues, establish objectives, develop recommendations, and implement solutions for our clients
  • Support requirements gathering by participating in stakeholder discussions, documenting business needs, and helping translate them into clear functional requirements
  • Assist with process mapping, current-state analysis, and documentation of workflows to identify gaps, dependencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Prepare clear, organized deliverables such as meeting notes, requirements summaries, status updates, and issue logs to support project teams and client stakeholders
  • Leverage AI‑enabled tools to support and accelerate consulting delivery activities while improving efficiency and outcomes
  • Drive outcomes without direct authority, engaging team members in a cross-functional environment
  • Conduct research studies that may include collecting, analyzing, trending, and presenting data and recommendations to management
  • Work closely with Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Architects, Business Partners, and other Technology teams to ensure requirements and design are completely understood
  • Assist in quality assurance and user acceptance testing by writing test scripts, executing test cases, and documenting defects
  • Effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients
  • Provide clear communications (oral and written) and share knowledge at all levels of the organization
