Reporting to the Manager, the Advisor, Health Workforce Programs plays a key role in advancing Ontario Health’s workforce priorities by strengthening employer engagement and developing practical resources and best practices that support effective use of health workforce programs. In this role, you will collaborate across teams and with external partners to support meaningful engagement with employers, healthcare workers, and learners, while helping improve program uptake, stakeholder experience, and data-informed decision-making. This is an opportunity for a proactive and relationship-focused professional to contribute to innovative workforce solutions that make a meaningful impact across Ontario’s health system.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree; or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience within the non-profit, healthcare, and/or government sector.
  • Experience working in a health human resources-related role, including understanding of both health professional and healthcare organizational perspectives.
  • A strong understanding of the healthcare system broadly as well as specialized sector specific knowledge, which may include primary care, hospitals, long-term care or home and community care.
  • Knowledge of the health human resources landscape, including a demonstrated understanding of both employer and health professional perspectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for licensing/certification as set out by governing bodies and regulatory colleges.
  • Knowledge of health professional recruitment and retention practices.
  • Community outreach and development and health human resource planning skills to achieve strategic goals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to clearly respond to inquiries on complex issues.
  • Diplomatic relationship management skills that contribute to achieving goals through collaboration and goodwill.
  • Professional standard of conduct, poise, diplomacy and integrity in all interactions to work confidentially and effectively with sensitive and complex issues.
  • Professional interactions in various scenarios and conduct business with tact and political acuity.
  • Time-management and organization skills to balance multiple priorities and collaborate and cooperate within a distributed team.
  • Facilitation and public speaking skills to deliver information and promote services to both small and large audiences.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to deliver complex and/or difficult information.
  • Self-directed to work independently and in a team with limited direction and uncertainty, and adapt to the changing priorities and needs of the health care sector.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management databases (e.g. Salesforce), and strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
  • All applicants must be a resident of Ontario to be considered for roles at Ontario Health.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong expertise in Ontario Health’s workforce programs, including how they connect with broader health workforce strategies and solutions.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with Ontario’s health service providers to promote awareness, understanding, and effective use of available workforce programs.
  • Respond to urgent and evolving health human resources needs by collaborating with colleagues to identify solutions and provide timely, informed support to internal and external partners.
  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to improve the overall experience of navigating workforce programs and related supports.
  • Gather feedback and insights from internal partners and external stakeholders to inform recommendations that enhance program performance, efficiency, and stakeholder experience.
  • Identify barriers to program uptake and work with leadership to develop practical solutions that improve access and impact.
  • Foster partnerships with health professional training programs and professional associations to help advance workforce initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze reports using data from multiple sources to identify trends, emerging issues, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of tools, resources, and supports that help stakeholders maximize available programs.
  • Support related workforce initiatives, projects, and cross-functional activities as needed.
