About The Position

This position provides leadership and administrative guidance of the following programs: Driver Education, Youth English Now, GED Options, Team Oregon Motorcycle Safety, and Youth Workforce grants. The coordinator oversees the hiring and supervision of classified staff, non-bargaining faculty, budget management, reporting requirements, student safety, program planning, and ensuring that institutional expectations are being met. In addition, as the coordinator, supports the dean in innovative approaches, community involvement, and effective communication with staff, students, community and district partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • One year of progressively responsible supervisory or leadership experience
  • One year of demonstrated experience with conflict management, code of conduct, or behavioral crisis management
  • One year of experience working with historically underrepresented populations, adult and teen, supplemental instructional models, student success initiatives, academic advising, early alert systems

  • Experience with high school or college level instruction

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, classified staff, non-bargaining faculty and PT/Hourly staff; including recruitment, hiring, scheduling, mentoring, evaluation, and/or disciplinary action
  • Motivates and encourages all team members to actively participate in continuous improvement activities in order to facilitate delivery of effective, high-quality services to both internal and external customers
  • Builds, promotes and leads effective teams to support the instructional and service mission of the college; empowers staff in the performance of their work; maintains a working knowledge of all negotiated agreements, institutional policies and procedures
  • Provides coordinator level information and assistance to staff, students regarding HSP programs; fosters collaborative communication among department staff; provides problem solving and guidance for staff and student issues
  • Directs all aspects of Youth Workforce and Community grants in accordance with state regulations, institutional procedures, and approved grant application to achieve program objectives as described in grant application
  • Maintains and strengthens collaborative partnerships with other college programs and community agencies; facilitates networking of related resources to most effectively serve students, staff, and partner agencies
  • Actively engage with Community Based Organizations within the College service district to enhance youth engagement opportunities
  • Attend Exempt, Division, and resource team meetings
  • Serves on Salem Keizer K-12 threat assessment team
  • Serves on Advisory Boards applicable to current and future partnerships pertaining to HSP
  • Advocate for department programs within the college and community
  • Stay current on mental health, homeless, and food resources in community
  • Keeps south campus crime log
  • Assist in college trainings in area of expertise as requested
  • Be available as Admin in charge, as needed
  • Advocates for department programs; confers with Dean on department's strategic planning within the college and community
  • Plans HSP Retreat and HSP In-service and other events in coordination with the dean
  • Develops Driver Ed, GED, and English Now Schedules, in consultation with the Dean, faculty and staff; monitor enrollments; provide recommendations for class terminations to the Dean; oversee the input of faculty assignments
  • Prepare and submit, in consultation with faculty, new and revised non-credit curriculum and maintain a schedule of curriculum review
  • Coordinates with other college departments
  • Manages budget for each grant in accordance with state regulations; provides budget narratives
  • Generates appropriate reports for each grant as required by state granting agencies
  • Manages the financial processes for state grants; ensures allocation of resources, integration of local accounting systems into regional funding process, approval of compliance with grant criteria and guidelines, assure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, and subcontracts with outside agencies
  • Monitors and makes recommendations for the GED Options, Youth English Now, and Driver Education budgets and ODOT invoicing
  • Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success
  • Embraces, understands and uses appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions
  • Provides high quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement and adoption of lean office practices
