About the role We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Advisor, Tax to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Tax, you will support domestic and international tax compliance, tax accounting, and strategic tax initiatives that optimise Rio Tinto’s overall tax position. This is a great opportunity for a tax professional looking to deepen their expertise across compliance , reporting, and strategic tax initiatives in a global organization. Reporting to the Manager, Tax and as part of the Tax Risk Management team, you will: Commitment to your safety and the safety of your team (mandatory for all roles) Prepare and review U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns (Forms 1120) and support international filings (Forms 5471, 8858) Perform technical tax calculations and analysis (GILTI, FDII, CAMT, FTC, §861 allocations) to ensure compliance and optimise outcomes Prepare and review annual income tax provisions, including deferred tax analysis (IAS12 / ASC 740) Identify tax planning opportunities and contribute to risk mitigation strategies, including due diligence on transactions Support continuous improvement of tax processes through automation, enhanced data management, and audit readiness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate tax, including exposure to international tax and tax provision
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. tax framework (GILTI, FDII, CAMT) and international/OECD principles
  • Experience with IAS12 / ASC 740
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with tax research tools
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or Master’s in Taxation is an asset
