About The Position

Discovery Land Company's Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club is seeking an Adventure & Sports Instructor to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department. This role is responsible for providing members with personal and professional service related to all outdoor activities. The position is hands-on, involving the organization, instruction, and encouragement of activities, and maximizing member participation. The Adventure & Sports Instructor will contribute to creating the unique Discovery Land Company experience for members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in the guest service industry.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and on the weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification is a plus.
  • Boat captain's license is a plus.
  • Certificates/qualifications preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality is preferred but not required.
  • Additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Outdoor Pursuits Standard Operating Procedure at all times.
  • Be on safety cover and lifeguard duties for on-water activities.
  • Perform duties such as stocking, cleaning, and preparing for member excursions and activities.
  • Carry out weekly safety checks on the Powerboat fleet ensuring all boats meet SOP guidelines.
  • Attend morning briefings and end-of-day shut down procedures as scheduled by management.
  • Regularly attend, participate in, and support training and staff meetings for Outdoor Pursuits.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and managers.
  • Act as an ambassador for the property and DLC at all times, both on and off property.
  • Maintain adherence to and stay abreast of any changes to the Employee Handbook.
  • Be punctual when starting a shift and prompt with each job assignment.
  • Assist in implementing monthly stock takes/inventories of all parts and tools required for the area as advised by the OP Manager.
  • Greet all members.
  • Participate in activities and games with members.
  • Facilitate sporting and special events.
  • Seat members and adjust chairs and umbrellas accordingly.
  • Supply members with towels and keep towels and suntan lotion stocked at stations.
  • Help members in and out of the water with water equipment, ensuring their safety and the safety of children in and around the pools and beach.
  • Make bonfires.
  • Greet and park golf carts at the Valet station.
  • Tend to members and guests utilizing Outdoor Pursuits areas, ensuring and maximizing their safety and enjoyment at all times.
  • Assist members and guests in all activities.
