BSA Sea BaseSummerland Key, FL
Onsite

About The Position

Adventure Mates lead Keys Adventure crews throughout the entirety of their seven-day adventure. Keys Adventure mates are responsible for their crew from the moment they arrive until the moment they depart, which includes one single night stay on primitive Big Munson Island. The other nights are spent on base at the Brinton Environmental Center in air-conditioned dorms. Mates will facilitate activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, snorkeling, and sailing, and serve as a guide for the crew, all while maintaining safety standards and an enthusiastic attitude. They serve as first mates aboard a 45-foot Corinthian and a 28-foot center console. Mates are responsible for mediating conflict, motivating participants, and developing crews' leadership skills. Mates will work in groups of two to five other mates and must be a team player. Sea Base is a unique Scouting program that offers aquatics programs found nowhere else. Whether your interests lie in sailing, scuba diving, rustic camping on an undeveloped barrier island, fishing or a combination of all, this is the place for your Troop, Team, Crew, Sea Ship or Explorer Post. Sea Base serves around 16,000 participants annually. This application is for the Fall 2026 season.
