About The Position

Join our amazing team as a Before & After School Care Counselor. This position has flexible scheduling, no weekend hours, a fun working environment and offers great experiences working with children! Counselors lead a group of children through activities before and after school during the 2026-2027 school year at a local elementary school in Northbrook School District 27, Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and West Northfield School District 31.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age
Some experience working hands-on with children
Work well with children, parents and Park District staff
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Become CPR and AED Certified

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills.

Responsibilities

Supervises a group of children, 5-12 years of age, throughout daily activities.
Closely monitors morning drop-off and afternoon sign-off process (attendance).
Plans and implements daily activities, both active and passive, in the areas determined by the Site Director.
Provides campers with a positive camp experience while monitoring the care and safety of each child through active participation in all aspects of the program.
Acts as liaison between the parents, children and Site Director in a courteous and positive manner.
Follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, policies set forth in the Employee Handbook and other program manuals, policies, and procedures issued by the Northbrook Park District.
Keeps the program site neat and clean and all equipment and supplies in good order.
Participates in staff meetings and all orientation and training sessions.
Assists with implementing severe weather and crises management procedures when needed.
Wears a Northbrook Park District staff uniform at all times when on duty.
Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
Follows safe work practices.
Attends trainings and meetings as required.
Performs related duties as assigned.
