About The Position

The Advancement Executive Director, Warner School, is responsible for overseeing all strategic planning to advance engagement and philanthropy for The Warner School. This role involves managing relationships with the Dean, leadership, high-level volunteers, and board members. The Executive Director will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, focusing on key supporters, and supervise a staff member. Travel on behalf of the University is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 10 years of relevant experience, including experience soliciting gifts or closely related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Highly developed collaborative skills and a genuine appetite for collaboration required.
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to solicit high annual and major gifts required.
  • Evidence of success working with Deans and other academic leaders required.
  • Excellent skills in written and oral communication.
  • Facility with office productivity computer programs required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Supervisory experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and a sufficient schedule of personal visits and travel to assure wise engagement of these prospects.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement officers in supporting all annual, major, and principle gifts work for the school, participating directly where appropriate.
  • Oversee a high level of volunteers on the Warner National Council, including recruiting and managing volunteers, facilitating meetings, and working with them individually.
  • Supervise an office focused on producing high annual, major, and principal gifts for the school.
  • Conceive and implement management systems to measure activity and progress.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff with appropriate consultation with Dean and University Advancement.
  • Promote a collaborative organizational culture internally and in working with other departments, focusing on moving prospects towards readiness to make generous gifts.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of school programs and priorities to support effective management decisions and prospect strategies.
  • Give strategic direction to the Dean and other key academic leaders on development efforts that focus on school priorities.
  • Staff the Dean in her development activities.
  • Oversee and run a variety of meetings in the dean’s absence, with full ability to make decisions on behalf of the dean.
  • Work closely with key University Advancement department leaders to ensure strong working relationships, delegating oversight to staff as appropriate.
  • Oversee the process of assuring that University Advancement officers have sufficient knowledge of Warner programs and priorities to be effective representatives for the school.
  • Build a comprehensive program focusing on engaging and connecting with the Rochester community to expand the donor base for the school.
  • Establish development strategy for The Warner School, along with plans and policies that support University Advancement goals and school priorities.
  • Manage the budget and all strategic reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
