About The Position

This role requires an Advanced Welder to perform all functions of a basic welder, working from verbal instructions, prints, or work orders. The welder will be responsible for setting up equipment, preparing surfaces, and performing complex welds, including cavity welds and non-pressure boilers. The position also involves using various hand tools, reading and interpreting complex blueprints, and potentially training basic welders. The role emphasizes prompt and regular attendance, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to all safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

Must be able to perform all functions of the basic welder classification.
Must be able to work from verbal instructions, prints, or work orders.
Required to setup equipment, prepare surfaces to be welded and weld parts.
Must be able to use hand tools such as grinders, portable spot welder, hammers, screw drivers, vise clamps, fixtures and jigs.
Must be able to read and layout parts to complex prints and plan details of working procedure.
Must be able to perform complex welds, such as but not limited to welds for cavity welds and non-pressure boilers.
Must have basic math skills.
Must be able to read blueprints and layout part to prints.
Must have good hand-eye coordination.
Must be able to demonstrate ability to weld complex welds.
Must have TIG experience and pass internal welding test.
Must complete the Career Readiness Certification.
A high school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

Perform all functions of the basic welder classification.

Setup equipment, prepare surfaces to be welded, and weld parts.
Use hand tools such as grinders, portable spot welder, hammers, screw drivers, vise clamps, fixtures and jigs.
Read and layout parts to complex prints and plan details of working procedure.
Perform complex welds, such as cavity welds and non-pressure boilers.
May perform additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Keep work area clean, neat and orderly.
Maintain inventory of parts used in area.
Report all accidents/injuries to department supervisor immediately.
Follow all safety rules, policies and procedures.
Train basic welders.
