The position supports mechanical systems and equipment integration, requirements-based systems engineering, system-level testing, technical presentations, and technical documentation. The engineer will work with component and analysis teams, contribute to system architecture trade studies, and ensure designs satisfy customer requirements through validation and verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical-systems-related engineering experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of stress, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, or heat transfer.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, as defined in the posting, or have the ability to obtain export authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of systems or project engineering experience in the aerospace industry, especially aviation.
  • Organized approach to completing work on time and meeting quality expectations.
  • Direct experience in at least one area of requirements-based engineering, such as requirement validation, derivation or decomposition, verification planning, qualification planning, or system or component testing.
  • Experience with environmental control systems, vapor cycle systems, air cycle systems, thermal management systems, fuel tank inerting systems, system architecture, turbomachinery, heat exchangers, power electronics, or controls.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or DOORS NG.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering, including CAMEO, SysML V1, or SysML V2.
  • Experience with digital thread practices, including linking analysis and test results to requirements.
  • Electromechanical engineering experience, particularly with thermal management systems.
  • Test experience developing plans and procedures, overseeing test execution, working with acceptance test procedures, and familiarity with DO-160 or MIL-STD 810 environmental testing.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work with minimal supervision, and consistent initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee mechanical systems and equipment integration.
  • Coordinate with component and analysis teams to support successful system outcomes.
  • Support system architecture trade studies and present trade-offs involving cost, weight, performance, technical considerations, and schedule risk.
  • Develop requirements that result in products satisfying customer requirements.
  • Validate requirements for their intended application and verify that designs meet requirements, including use of the V-model.
  • Create and execute verification plans.
  • Plan and conduct system-level performance, environmental, and vibration tests to support system verification.
  • Clearly present technical content to technical leads, customers, and management.
