•$120,000 - $150,000

About The Position

Pearson Professional Assessments is hiring an Advanced Specialist Product Manager to own security platforms and shared services across five domains: Identity, Behavior, Location, Platform, and Environment. The role also includes the security capability roadmap for the online-proctored channel. The position will help shift security from controls embedded separately in individual applications toward a deliberately designed shared platform informed by the threat landscape and market needs. The product manager will maintain outcome-based roadmaps and live capability gap analyses, conduct continuous market and user discovery, and translate individual client requests into reusable capabilities. They will define platform capabilities, service contracts, and integration patterns for channel and application teams. They will establish measures for control effectiveness, partner with data science and analytics on AI/ML-based detection, and ensure that control evidence can withstand appeals, client scrutiny, regulator questions, and legal challenge. Findings from forensics, incident reviews, and live delivery will feed into the roadmap. The role partners with Engineering Delivery, Architecture, and Security Operations from discovery through production and operations. It also helps establish durable product ownership, coaches programme and project management colleagues through the transition from project-shaped delivery, and contributes to the shared product operating model.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of product management experience, including at least 3 years owning security, identity, fraud, risk, or trust-and-safety products.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a platform or shared-services product used by multiple internal teams or channels, rather than only end-user features.
  • Experience with AI/ML-based detection or classification products and fluency in precision/recall trade-offs and their human consequences.
  • A track record in a regulated, high-stakes environment where errors have real consequences for individuals, such as assessment, identity, financial crime, or healthcare.
  • Evidence of driving a roadmap using market and threat intelligence rather than relying on inbound customer requirements.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex security trade-offs clearly to executives and engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an organization transitioning from project or programme delivery to product management.
  • Background in assessment, certification, proctoring, biometrics, or online examination integrity.
  • Familiarity with secure client software, browser lockdown, or endpoint integrity.

  • Maintain a live capability gap analysis for each security domain.
  • Build and maintain a view of the exam security threat landscape and use it as a primary roadmap input.
  • Continuously track competitor and adjacent-industry capabilities, identifying where Pearson leads, matches, or lags.

  • Turn individual client requests into reusable capabilities for the broader business, offering an evidence-based alternative to bespoke work.
  • Instrument controls and own metrics including detection rate, precision and recall, false-positive burden, appeal and overturn rates, and candidate and proctor impact.
  • Partner with data science and analytics on AI/ML-based detection, set performance expectations, and own the precision/recall position.
  • Ensure control evidence can withstand candidate appeals, client scrutiny, regulator questions, and legal challenge.
  • Feed forensics findings, incident reviews, and result holds from live delivery into the roadmap.
  • Partner with Engineering Delivery, Architecture, and Security Operations throughout discovery, production, and operational life.
  • Produce clear problem statements, decision records, and product narratives for technical, client, and executive audiences.
  • Sequence work around outcomes and dependencies and remain accountable for what reaches production.
  • Establish durable product ownership in the role’s area and demonstrate effective practice to the wider portfolio.
  • Coach and partner with programme and project management colleagues through the transition to product management.
  • Contribute to the shared product operating model, including discovery practice, roadmap format, decision rights, and KPI definitions.
