About The Position

Help keep products moving and customer commitments on track. Mitsubishi Chemical America is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Advanced Specialist – Logistics & Inventory Control to coordinate finished-product shipments, process orders, and support inventory coordination at our La Porte, Texas location. In this role, you’ll work primarily with distributors, warehouse partners, and freight carriers, building strong working relationships and keeping everyone informed from order receipt through delivery. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, inventory control, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and transportation terminology and procedures, including domestic and export shipping.
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, and the ability to learn logistics systems and applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional, service-focused approach to working with others.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through when managing orders, inventory records, and delivery deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to prioritize work while following established procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree and experience with SAP, particularly the Materials Management module, are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer orders in SAP from receipt through invoicing, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
  • Coordinate finished-product shipments to meet delivery commitments, supporting domestic and/or export shipping based on assigned responsibilities, and track domestic shipments through arrival.
  • Communicate with distributors, warehouse coordinators, carriers, and dispatchers to confirm shipment details and address delays or other issues.
  • Coordinate inventory availability with the onsite Inventory Coordinator and logistics team to support orders drawing from shared stock.
  • Support month-end closing and inventory reconciliation by reviewing reports and helping resolve discrepancies.
  • Arrange transfers to off-site warehouses to support target inventory levels and product availability.
  • Review freight invoices for accuracy, maintain weekly fuel surcharge records, and monitor transportation costs and carrier performance.
  • Partner with Logistics, Packaging, and Finished Product Lab teams to coordinate shipment readiness and resolve product-related questions.
  • Maintain organized logistics documentation and protect confidential product, inventory, and customer information.
  • Apply established procedures to routine decisions and seek supervisory guidance on complex or unusual situations.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills to provide backup coverage for logistics leadership during absences.
