About The Position
We are seeking a licensed Advanced Psychiatric Practitioner (PA or NP) to join our community-based crisis unit providing short-term, high-impact psychiatric care. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the front line of behavioral health, delivering rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric and substance use crises.
Requirements
- Certification to practice as a nurse practitioner through approval by the Georgia board of nursing.
- Knowledge of assessment tools, interviewing, and physical examination techniques
- Ability to formulate diagnosis based on examination and test results
- Able to interpret test results, identify deviations from norms, and intervene or make appropriate referrals
- Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures including developing, implementing and revising plan of care
- Ability to prescribe certain medications as part of a treatment plan gaining physician approval when needed
- Ability to document problems and/or needs identified from the treatment plan; competent in completing treatment plans
- Ability to document treatment in electronic health record systems and to operate standard office equipment.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments
- Provide diagnosis, medication management, and brief therapeutic interventions
- Manage patients requiring crisis stabilization, including those with serious mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder)
- Assess and treat co-occurring substance use disorders, including opioid and alcohol withdrawal
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support safe stabilization and disposition planning
- Light, shared call responsibilities, primarily phone-base typically one weekday per week, with occasional weekend support as needed
- Shared holiday coverage that is partially reimbursed plus banked vacation hours
