About The Position

As an Advanced APU Project Engineer here at Honeywell working on the 36 Series and RE220 and HGT400 APUs, you will coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, foster collaboration and ensure effective project coordination. You will report directly to our Sr. Program Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule. For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F. In this role, you will impact the company's success by ensuring the successful execution and delivery of complex engineering products, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in project engineering or related roles
  • Prior experience and technical knowledge of gas turbine engines
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex engineering projects
  • Experience in risk management and problem-solving to mitigate project risks and issues effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies relevant to engineering projects
  • Experience with earned value management systems
  • Knowledge of auxiliary power units (APU) and APU installations

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with airframers and operators to resolve in-service engineering issues
  • Work with functional experts to identify root cause and corrective actions for complex and ambiguous technical challenges
  • Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to advance programs through the IRB process
  • Develop technical change proposals for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) customers to resolve SRDs and other technical issues
  • Proactively manage and mitigate project risks to maintain project performance
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project newer team members
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders
