About The Position

As a member of the Design Liaison Engineering (DLE) team, you will be an active contributor to the Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE) organization, providing design engineering support to our global supply chain partners. Our team is essential for maintaining high technical rigor to ensure quality of the product is not compromised while working with a sense of urgency to drive customer fulfillment. As a DLE Airfoil Engineer, you will provide technical ownership of various types of gas turbine flow path hardware such as blades, stators, vanes, heat shields, variable guide vanes, linkage assemblies, etc. You will be responsible for analyzing and dispositioning hardware deviations, overseeing second source supplier qualifications, participating in lean initiatives to reduce costs, scrap, and non-conformances, and owning specific redesign efforts through engineering drawing revisions. This is a hands-on role requiring collaboration with engineering teams, suppliers, and factories to ensure hardware quality and fulfillment, while helping to solve some of the biggest challenges we face in manufacturing these complex gas turbine components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 1+ years of experience in a similar or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery, specifically compressor flow path components.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (Ansys), 3D Computer Aided Design (NX), and other analytical tools.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing with ability to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a cross functional global organization.
  • Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, and a continuous learner.
  • Ability to rapidly shift day to day priorities based on emerging business needs.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as precision forging, machining (milling, drilling, turning, EDM), coating, shot peening, inspection, fixturing, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage analytical tools to analyze and deliver solutions for deviant hardware and provide design support to prevent repeat incidents.
  • Own hardware redesign efforts by revising drawings to enhance manufacturability.
  • Act as technical focal for qualifications of new processes/changes, and second source suppliers.
  • Conduct technical reviews of design tasks and help assess risks at the component, assembly, and system levels.
  • Follow standard work and design templates for common issues, and contribute to the improvement of design and manufacturing processes or methods.
  • Ensure adherence to technical standards in design activities, maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Apply basic knowledge of gas turbine design to support improvements in part functionality and cost reduction.
  • Foster a positive work environment, supporting a culture of quality and urgency in collaboration with the supply chain team.
