About The Position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients and examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. The APRN supports illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery; may prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests; and advises patients about continuing care. This position is in the SICU on the night shift, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM. Duties may be expanded as necessary and are not limited to the listed functions.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Valid State of Florida APRN License.
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform and document complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
Independently perform age-appropriate histories and physical examinations.
Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests in accordance with patients’ age-specific needs.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
Implement interventions to help patients regain or maintain physiologic stability.
Provide care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
Facilitate patient transitions within and between health care settings, including admission, transfer, and discharge.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make appropriate referrals.
Support staff, patient, and family decision-making by providing educational tools.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
