About The Position

Join MSK’s Esophagogastric Cancer Program as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), where you will play a key role in delivering coordinated, high-quality care to patients with esophageal and gastric cancers. In this role, you will serve as a central point of contact for patients and families while working within a multidisciplinary, high-acuity oncology environment.

Requirements

  • For Physician Assistant (PA) Candidates: Graduate of an accredited PA program
  • NCCPA certification
  • Active NYS license or eligibility for licensure
  • At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience, ideally in oncology or surgical oncology
  • For Nurse Practitioner (NP) Candidates: Current NYS RN and NP licenses/registrations
  • Master’s degree in nursing with prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)
  • National NP certification
  • At least 3 years of relevant clinical experience, ideally in oncology or surgical oncology

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in esophageal, gastric, thoracic, or gastrointestinal oncology
  • Experience in an academic or tertiary cancer center environment
  • Strong clinical decision-making in complex, multidisciplinary environments
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams effectively
  • Skilled at collaborating and influencing across teams
  • Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic, evolving care environment
  • Excellent communication and patient engagement skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and caregivers throughout diagnosis and treatment
  • Partner with Patient Access Services to facilitate timely access to care
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to translate tumor board decisions into actionable care plans
  • Coordinate complex care plans including diagnostic testing, staging, specialty consults, and treatment planning
  • Identify and address barriers to care in collaboration with clinical and support teams
  • Provide patient education on diagnosis, treatment options, care pathways, and expected clinical course
  • Maintain awareness of clinical trial eligibility and coordinate referrals to research teams
  • Contribute to quality metrics, outcomes tracking, and program development initiatives
  • Participate in quality improvement and programmatic initiatives
