About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in the University of Washington Department of Medicine is hiring a full-time Advanced Practice Provider at the rank of Teaching Associate. The anticipated start date is March 2027. The successful candidate will provide interventional pulmonology care as part of the Interventional Pulmonology service at UWMC-Montlake, under the supervision of the Director of Interventional Pulmonology. This position is part of an interprofessional pulmonary and critical care team that includes attending physicians, trainees, multidisciplinary specialists, and procedural suite staff. The role is based primarily in the outpatient setting, split between the Interventional Pulmonology/Lung Nodule Clinic and procedural suite support. The APP will provide care independently and collaboratively with team members. Candidates with procedural experience or a strong interest in developing procedural skills are encouraged to apply. Training and credentialing opportunities are available for bedside procedures, including thoracentesis, chest tube placement and management, and tunneled pleural catheter placement, management, and removal. This is a weekday-only position with no weekend, holiday, or call coverage. Teaching Associate appointments are annual and align with a 12-month service period from July 1 through June 30; reappointment to subsequent annual terms is possible. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over 12 months, with the equivalent of one month available for paid time off. The stated base salary range is $110,004–$182,095 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The posting's compensation details also list a maximum of $182,088 per year. The range includes base salary provided through both the University and the UW Physicians practice plan; only University-provided compensation is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. UW Physicians practice-plan compensation may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. The Division is a collaborative, multidisciplinary community of more than 200 faculty, fellows, researchers, advanced practice providers, and staff across five Seattle clinical sites. Its Interventional Pulmonology service works closely with thoracic surgery, medical oncology, and radiology on lung cancer diagnosis and staging, complex pleural disease, and therapeutic airway interventions. The Division's mission integrates clinical care, research, and education and emphasizes mentorship and physician-scientist development. The University of Washington is committed to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming community and to equitable, high-quality care. Applications are submitted through Interfolio, and the position remains open until filled. Applicants should submit a one-page cover letter describing their interest, qualifications, and experience; a curriculum vitae; and a one-page list with contact information for at least three referees prepared to provide letters of recommendation upon request. Applicants should explain how their past experience or future plans in clinical care or service promote belonging and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.
