About The Position

Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC) has locations in Othello and the Central District. Services at the clinics include pediatric medical care, behavioral health, dental services, nutrition, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more. Since 1970, OBCC has worked to uphold the vision of community organizer Odessa Brown: to bring quality healthcare with dignity to children from birth to young adulthood in the Central District and south Seattle. We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our primary care team. As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will deliver direct clinical care and assume primary responsibility for the clinical management of pediatric patients in an ambulatory setting. In this role, you will work closely with department attending physicians, specialists, behavioral health professionals, and community advocacy teams to provide effective, efficient, safe, and culturally responsive care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
  • One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.
  • Active, unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington (for Nurse Practitioners)
  • Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner (for Nurse Practitioners)
  • Active, unencunbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington (for Physician Assistants)
  • Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (for Physician Assistants)
  • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.
  • Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.
  • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Children's Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws, continuously throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive health histories, physical examinations, and routine well-child visits (following AAP guidelines from newborn through age 21) as well as urgent care/same-day evaluations.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; formulate clinical diagnoses; prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments; and develop ongoing management plans.
  • Direct and participate in complex case management and continuing care transitions for patients with chronic medical, developmental, or social complexities.
  • Consult and collaborate with attending physicians, pediatric subspecialists, dental and behavioral health partners, and social services to deliver holistic care.
  • Contribute to organizational, clinic-wide, and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement (CQI) initiatives aimed at improving clinical outcomes and health equity.
  • Participate in patient, family, and health care team education, supporting community outreach initiatives and ongoing clinical research or advocacy efforts.
