About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their team as a Surgical Nocturnist at the Franciscan Health Indianapolis location. This role involves providing surgical coverage for General Surgery (including Bariatric and Level III Trauma) and Orthopedic Surgery during night shifts. The ideal candidate will have a focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction, possess exceptional interpersonal skills, and be eager to collaborate with physicians and other advanced practice providers to deliver high-quality patient care.

Requirements

Master's Degree
Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C)
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
General and/or orthopedic surgery experience is preferred.
Must display exceptional interpersonal skills.
Must desire to develop strong ties with the community and existing medical staff.
Must work collaboratively with physicians to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of patient care.

Responsibilities

Provide surgical coverage for General Surgery including Bariatric and Level III Trauma, and Orthopedic Surgery.
Handle Emergency Room and inpatient consults.
Manage Transfer Center calls from outside hospitals.
Respond to floor calls and outside patient calls via answering service.
Act as a surgical first assist in after-hours urgent surgeries.
Perform occasional rounding during the shift.
Opportunity to work additional day shifts in General Surgery.
