About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Surgery/Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (TACS)/Program of Community Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the community hospitals. This position is located in Menomonee Falls, WI at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. This position provides 24/7 coverage to our community surgery practices and reports to the TACS APP Manager. The APP position requires a strong clinical competence in emergency general surgery, trauma and subspecialty surgical specialties, critical decision making and ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients in an inpatient setting. The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care as part of an academic practice and Level 3 trauma center.

Requirements

• BLS Certified (American Heart Association Basic Life Support)
• DEA Eligibility
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Wisconsin APRN Licensure
• APRN Certification Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization or historical certification equivalent
• Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
• Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
• Family NP (FNP)
• Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
• Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Nice To Haves

• Previous APP surgical specialty experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Admit, discharge, manage, and provide consultation for surgical specialty patients.
• In-person coverage at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital and virtual coverage of Froedtert West Bend Hospital for surgical specialty patients.
• Care will be provided in collaboration with surgeons teams.
