About The Position

Urology of Virginia (UVA) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide office-based care and see patients independently alongside collaborating physicians and APPs. Our APPs primarily work within Centers of Excellence focused on specific urologic conditions. The role involves diagnosing and treating common urological conditions such as kidney stones, male and female voiding dysfunction, elevated PSA/prostate cancer, and erectile dysfunction. Opportunities to perform office-based procedures like cystoscopy and prostate biopsy are available and can be taught if desired. UVA has a long history of providing comprehensive urological care and is recognized for its APP program, offering rewarding opportunities for APPs to function at the top of their license.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Licensure in the state of Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate.
  • Assess the patient’s medical condition by completion of a urological examination.
  • Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested.
  • Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient’s medical condition.
  • Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols.
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate.
  • Perform procedures in office setting (cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, etc.) as trained.
