The Division of Cardiology at UVA Health’s Heart and Vascular Center is committed to advancing innovative care models that enhance access to cardiovascular services, improve patient outcomes, and support patients and families throughout Central Virginia. UVA Health is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with expertise in the care of patients with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices (VADs), and heart transplantation to join our esteemed Heart Failure team. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with nationally recognized cardiologists specializing in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology within a dynamic, multidisciplinary care environment. The APP will provide comprehensive inpatient care for patients with acute and chronic heart failure, VADs, heart transplant evaluations, and those undergoing assessment and treatment for advanced heart failure therapies. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team, the APP will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to this complex population. UVA Health is actively involved in clinical research and the implementation of cutting-edge diagnostic modalities and therapies in cardiovascular medicine. APPs are integral to the management of patients participating in these innovative treatment programs, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based care while helping to improve outcomes for patients with advanced cardiovascular disease. Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
  • Department and unit specific experience.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
