The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Medical Oncology delivers comprehensive, high-quality patient care within a designated clinical specialty in collaboration with and under the direction of a licensed or supervising physician, in accordance with scope of practice and licensure guidelines. The APP practices as an integral member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient access, care coordination, quality, and clinical outcomes across the health system. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients; obtaining medical histories; performing physical examinations; diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions; ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests; developing and implementing treatment plans; prescribing medical therapeutics or corrective measures; counseling patients on preventive care and health maintenance; assisting in surgical procedures as applicable; and coordinating care across disciplines. The APP contributes to patient-centered care through collaborative practice, clinical expertise, and a commitment to quality and safety.
