About The Position

Fox Chase Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA-C or CRNP) to join our Thoracic Surgery team. This role is ideal for someone interested in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the thoracic oncology continuum, from diagnosis through treatment and long-term follow-up. The APP will work closely with dedicated thoracic surgeons and a multidisciplinary team, including fellow APPs, to care for patients with complex thoracic conditions. This includes lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal and chest wall disease, and metastatic disease to the lungs. The position includes a mix of outpatient clinic care, perioperative management, and first assisting in the operating room when needed, in both shared and independent settings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Masters OR Doctorate degree : Nursing (MSN or DNP)
  • MPA-LIC - PA Medical Physician Asst Lic
  • NCCPA - Certified Physician Assistant
  • OR
  • CRNP - PA Cert Reg Nurse Practitioner
  • RN-LIC - PA Registered Nurse License

Nice To Haves

  • Previous thoracic, surgical, or oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Robotic surgical assisting experience or interest in developing robotic skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-based, high-acuity environment
  • Ability to function effectively in both clinic and operative settings
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care

Responsibilities

  • Conducting outpatient clinic visits independently and alongside faculty, including: New patient consultations, Pre-operative evaluations, Post-operative follow-ups, Long-term surveillance visits
  • Supporting perioperative care, including surgical planning and post-operative management
  • First assisting in the operating room for thoracic surgical procedures as needed
  • Managing inpatient care as needed, including rounding, discharges, and coordination of care
  • Performing office-based procedures (e.g., chest tube management, wound care, suture/staple removal)
  • Reviewing and interpreting imaging, pathology, and laboratory results to guide care decisions
  • Coordinating care across a multidisciplinary team including medical oncology, radiation oncology, pulmonology, and radiology
  • Educating patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and recovery expectations
  • Participating in tumor boards, case discussions, and team-based initiatives
  • Engaging in quality improvement and professional development opportunities
