The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our General Cardiology subsection. This position focuses exclusively on outpatient care, working closely with cardiology faculty and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care. The role involves conducting outpatient clinic visits, including new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and chronic disease management. The provider will perform thorough cardiovascular assessments, interpret ECGs and common non-invasive tests, and manage a variety of general cardiology conditions such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and heart failure in the ambulatory setting. Patient and family education on cardiovascular disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and follow-up plans is a key responsibility. Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to optimize treatment plans and care coordination is essential. Accurate and efficient documentation in the electronic health record (Epic) and participation in quality improvement initiatives and educational activities are also expected.
