About The Position

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their inpatient team at the University of Washington Medical Center, specifically on the Postpartum Care Unit and Labor & Delivery Triage Unit. This role involves serving as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). The APP will ensure consistency in discharge practices, coordinate with Pediatrics, and optimize patient care on the Postpartum Care Unit. Responsibilities include rounding on low-risk postpartum patients, providing discharge counseling, lactation support, and assisting with the management of complex postpartum conditions such as hypertensive disorders and diabetes. The position also requires flexibility to evaluate patients in the Labor & Delivery Triage Unit when capacity allows. The successful candidate will collaborate with MFM and generalist faculty, fellows, and residents to provide full-scope ARNP clinical services for both high-risk and low-risk postpartum patients.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP, Physician Assistant Licensure, Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) or foreign equivalent.
  • Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited PA program and licensure as an ARNP or foreign equivalent.
  • Nationally certified ARNP/CNM with DEA.
  • Experience working with postpartum and obstetrical patients.
  • Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in patient care.
  • Eligibility for and ability to maintain a Washington State medical license.

  • Clinical teaching experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with MFM and generalist faculty, CNMs, fellows, and obstetrics/gynecology residents.

Responsibilities

  • Round on low-risk postpartum patients.
  • Provide discharge counseling and lactation support.

  • Engage in teaching, research, and service as expected of University of Washington faculty.
  • Provide medical services at affiliated hospitals.
  • Train residents and medical students.
  • Make academic contributions to the field.
