This position works under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, or Pharmacy Manager. The role involves performing job responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies, procedures, performance improvement objectives, and environmental/infection control standards. The Advanced Pharmacy Technician (APT) is expected to coordinate daily workflow in their assigned area, provide leadership to other technicians, make sound decisions, accept responsibilities, and maintain competency in multiple areas. They serve as a knowledge and training resource for specific areas of responsibility and routinely work to improve these areas. The APT provides prompt and courteous service by receiving incoming calls and prioritizing requests. They participate in teaching activities, including precepting other healthcare professionals, and actively enhance personal growth and development through educational programs. The role also involves treating co-workers and organizational/departmental property with respect, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and auditing controlled substances in accordance with guidelines. The APT consistently works independently and effectively, problem-solving with minimal supervision. A significant portion of their time (80%) is dedicated to performing advanced pharmacy technician concentration areas, which may include Controlled Substance, Operating Room, Buyer, Procurement, & Technology Optimization, Sterile & Hazardous Compounding, or Investigational Drug Services.
