HistoSonics is a commercial-stage medtech company advancing the Edison® System, a novel non-invasive sonic beam therapy based on histotripsy. Since receiving FDA De Novo grant for the non-invasive destruction of liver tumors in 2023, the company has progressed beyond initial market entry into commercial expansion, reimbursement momentum, and ongoing clinical and pipeline development. In addition to its current liver tumor indication, HistoSonics is pursuing future indications across multiple applications including kidney, pancreas, prostate, neuro, women’s health, and other significant underserved human health areas, to realize the broader potential histotripsy across multiple disease states and medical specialties. Location: Madison, WI, or Plymouth, MN - (75% on site) Travel: Approximately 25% Position Summary: The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical Test) is responsible for developing and optimizing supply chain processes, with a primary focus on electrical system integration, supporting new product launches and developing manufacturing test systems. This individual contributor role is dedicated to driving operational excellence by leveraging technical expertise in electrical engineering, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The engineer will play a key role in updating circuit board schematics, providing design for manufacturing (DFM) input during product development, and implementing advanced manufacturing techniques to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Holds at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably focused on electrical systems, circuit board assembly, or electronic components
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical manufacturing processes, electrical engineering principles, electrical test fixture development in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in manufacturing systems programming using Python, LabVIEW, or comparable programming languages.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software for schematic updates, PCB layout, and documentation of electrical assemblies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to electrical engineering and manufacturing decisions.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) of circuit boards and electrical assemblies, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing and familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve existing electrical manufacturing and supply chain processes, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, higher quality, and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance quality and improve product standards.
  • Support new product introductions by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems and readiness for manufacturing.
  • Work closely with sourcing, quality, and production teams to develop and implement best practices and advanced electrical manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support electrical design and manufacturing needs, ensuring effective communication and integration throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead the implementation of new electrical equipment, test fixtures, and manufacturing aids, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Update and maintain circuit board schematics and documentation, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability of electrical designs.
  • Drive the implementation of new electrical manufacturing equipment and test fixtures to support production and quality goals.
  • Ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards in all aspects of electrical supply chain and manufacturing activities.
