Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Strong technical skills in software, electronics, and mechanical troubleshooting, as well as a knack for hands-on repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software (AUV operations suite, sonar tools, etc.)
  • Data processing and analysis skills
  • Strong communication and technical report writing
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time (most travel assignments range between 1-3 weeks in length)
  • Able to pass the requirements for a US Coast Guard physical examination CG-719K.
  • Able to obtain a Massachusetts 1B Hoisting Engineer's License within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Able to carry substantial weight, support extended work hours, and work in a wide range of weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating marine technologies and subsea sensors ideally directly related to Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV's)
  • An understanding and passion for working offshore aboard vessels of all sizes.
  • Experience testing complex systems in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

  • Make safety the #1 priority in the office, on the shop floor, at the dock, and offshore.
  • Perform offshore testing of AUV systems to support engineering development, acceptance testing, and customer operations.
  • Troubleshoot AUV issues and collaborate with other engineering groups to quickly resolve problems.
  • Detailed record keeping and reporting of daily offshore activities.
  • Oversee and maintain a fleet of asset AUV systems as well as the GDMS research vessel the R/V Resolution.
  • Lead customer training courses on the operation and maintenance of AUV systems.
