This role involves analyzing and researching engineering problems, participating in equipment or product design, testing materials, devices, or machines, and preparing specifications/documentation. The engineer will develop and document automation design standards, lead cross-functional teams for Automation FATs and SATs, and provide feedback during design development on DFMs, ROM pricing, and quoting of automation equipment. They will also support and provide feedback to the cross-functional team on new automation status and condition. The position requires APQP responsibilities including developing Process Flow, PFMEA, and Standard Work Instructions for automation processes, reviewing internal cost breakdowns, and supporting capital acquisition requests and planning. The engineer will develop RFQs for automation capital assets, manage them from inception to authorization/integration, and write and manage Capital Expenses KPI accountability SOP+ 90 days on all capital asset integrations. They will support automation changes due to ECN, develop and manage BDPs based on lessons learned, and function in a team environment utilizing six sigma problem-solving applications. Additional responsibilities include training tooling technicians, identifying new technologies to increase efficiency, supporting operations and production for SMED strategy implementation, supporting enterprise-wide capacity management of capital assets, developing relationships between sales, engineering, and operations teams, achieving authorization on new equipment, supporting standardized tool build guidelines, and attending daily Fast Response meetings. Travel up to 30% (domestic and international) is required.
