About The Position

This position leads new package development projects within the food & dairy sector, leveraging expertise in blow molding manufacturing processes, mold designs, and materials. The role is responsible for the planning, execution, cost management, timeline adherence, and internal/external communication for ISBM & EBM blown packaging component development projects. The Advanced Engineer I provides technical leadership across various engineering projects, coordinates with different disciplines, and offers work direction and input to business functional groups, while also leading the resolution of complex technical issues. Key aspects include managing internal and external customers, interpreting SPC and quality data to guide project decisions, and leading project teams without direct reporting lines. The role requires a deep understanding of EBM and ISBM manufacturing processes, and the ability to make decisions based on financial measures and Amcor’s strategic, competitive, and business environment. Responsibilities also extend to creating and standardizing engineering/design principles, anticipating customer needs, driving product opportunities, influencing commercial decisions, and managing capital and expense budgets. The individual is expected to adapt to changing workplace needs, work cross-functionally to improve processes and employee engagement, and maintain a clear understanding of project requirements, challenges, and workload.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 6 or more years of experience working with blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing.
  • Deep technical knowledge in this industry, and understanding of industry trends and how they apply to customers.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Good understanding of SPC and quality practices.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals that will not be reporting directly to you.
  • Experience with materials such as PET, PP, HDPE, LDPE and barrier materials within the plastics space.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  • Ability to work within a procedure-based organization but capable of extending outside those boundaries if required.
  • Willingness to make decisions and to learn from them when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Packaging discipline preferred for Bachelor's Degree.
  • Plastic processing experience is a plus.
  • Tooling build experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creates clear policies and professional and engineering/design principles to address differing and variable situations and teaches these to others.
  • Ensures these become standards for department.
  • Understands and anticipates needs of customers; drives product opportunities.
  • Has influence on commercial decisions.
  • Develops, tracks and meets capital and expense budget for their responsibility.
  • Adapts to changing workplace needs and works cross functionally continually improve processes and employee engagement.
  • Monitors and maintains a clear understanding of project needs, hurdles, and workload.
