About The Position

The Advanced Development Engineer is responsible for leading the end-to-end development of innovative product concepts from ideation through to handoff for commercialization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise who can navigate ambiguity, drive innovation, and align engineering solutions with business and customer needs. This is a fully onsite position and requires daily attendance at our facility in Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada. Occasional travel to the United States, Europe, and Asia is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in product development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with CAD software, including CATIA
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Familiarity with intellectual property (IP) documentation processes
  • Knowledge of automotive standards and manufacturing processes

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define new product opportunities and enhancements based on market/technological trends, customer, and legislative needs.
  • Create, analyze, and test innovative concepts using engineering tools and prototypes.
  • Lead internal teams and external partners to align development with business goals.
  • Assemble and guide cross-functional discussions to generate new ideas and solutions, and follow up to implementation.
  • Oversee advanced development projects from concept to handoff, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Interface with customers to generate excitement, gather feedback and refine concepts to meet their needs.
  • Contribute to patent filings and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Deliver complete technical and marketing handoff packages to Product Engineering and Sales.
  • Prioritize safety and comply with the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Support risk reduction, hazard identification, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and wellness legislation and KSR standards.
  • Uphold and adhere to the KSR Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
  • Promote the global Environmental Management System with a focus on footprint reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and KSR standards.
