About The Position

This is not an active open requisition; Abbott is building a candidate slate for a future opening. The Advanced Clinical Expert is responsible for providing educational and clinical support to the field, addressing complex inquiries from healthcare professionals, patients, and sales staff. This role requires a high degree of independence and involves resolving difficult problems using advanced scientific principles. The position may contribute to the development of department policies and procedures. The role focuses on educating customers on best practices for CardioMEMS and Merlin.net workflows within strategic accounts and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). It involves managing key partner relationships, analyzing market dynamics, and providing technical, sales, education, and clinical support for complex field inquiries. The expert will demonstrate a thorough understanding of Heart Failure (HF) products, related knowledge, trends, and competitors. Responsibilities include providing provider/facility adoption direction, system training, workflow development, test planning support, and communication support. Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Training and Development is expected to improve customer experience and optimize implementation processes. The role also involves acting as an internal expert within targeted accounts and the Abbott HF organization, developing and leading training programs, and staying current on field developments, regulatory requirements, and industry trends. Exceptional communication and presentation skills are required. The expert will proactively identify at-risk accounts, provide implementation forecasting, and update CRM systems. Mentoring new staff may be part of the role. Attendance at company and professional meetings is expected, along with maintaining accurate and timely reports and managing time, travel, and expenses within corporate guidelines.

Requirements

  • Inpatient and/or outpatient Heart failure program experience with advanced practice degree such as NP, CNS, or PA.
  • Clinical background: APP with two plus years of Heart Failure and/or Cardiovascular experience; RN with two plus years of Heart Failure experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively and work within a team environment.
  • Overnight travel 50%
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
  • 5 years or more relevant working experience required.
  • Working in a team-selling environment.
  • Competent in computer operation including Microsoft WORD, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical background: Advanced Practitioner such as CNS, NP, PA, with Heart Failure and/or Cardiovascular experience in the Acute or outpatient setting.
  • Experience in project management, performance improvement, and process improvement across hospital’s or IDN’s also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Educate customers on best practice CardioMEMS and Merlin.net workflows within targeted strategic, enterprise accounts, and IDN’s.
  • Proactively manage key partner relationships to strengthen overall solution capabilities and drive greater client value and CardioMEMS program adoption.
  • Analyze Market Dynamics to identify greatest needs and opportunities.
  • Build and sustain credible business relationships with customers and share product expertise.
  • Provide technical, sales, education, and clinical support in response to the most complex field inquiries.
  • Demonstrate a thorough command of all HF products, related product and technical knowledge, trends, and players.
  • Provide provider/facility adoption direction, system training, workflow development, test planning support, and communications support to the client and implementation team.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Training and Development to provide feedback for improved customer experience and optimize implementation processes.
  • Act as Advanced Clinical Expert internally within defined targeted accounts and within the Abbott HF organization.
  • Develop, lead and/or facilitate trainings and other programs on HF products to healthcare professionals.
  • Remain current on developments in field(s) of expertise, regulatory requirements, and a good working knowledge of company and competitor products, markets, and objectives as well as industry trends.
  • Identify at-risk accounts to Technical Services and to the appropriate Territory Manager/Regional Sales Director and recommend strategies and suggestions to retain such accounts.
  • Provide implementation opportunity forecasting and update account/opportunity detail to Manager and Salesforce CRM System.
  • May functionally direct and mentor new hire staff within organization.
  • Attend and participate in company and professional meetings, including conference and webinar calls.
  • Understand administrative reporting responsibilities and maintain and submit accurate and timely reports.
  • Maintain and manage time, travel, and expenses within set corporate guidelines and policies using best practices as directed by the National Director of Field Implementation Services and Abbott.
