About The Position

Join a talented group of more than 80 Morrison Healthcare dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education. This full-time position offers a balanced and well-rounded experience providing adult inpatient acute care coverage across a variety of service lines and patient populations. It is an excellent opportunity for both new and experienced Registered Dietitians. You will collaborate closely with nursing, licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), therapy services, case management, and social work to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential
  • Experience in adult inpatient acute care
  • Ability to collaborate with nursing, licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), therapy services, case management, and social work
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, including HIPAA and patient rights policies

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy to adult patients (18+) including comprehensive nutrition assessments, individualized diet modifications, and patient-focused nutrition education.
  • Partner effectively with licensed independent practitioners (LIPs), providing confident, proactive recommendations and advocating for appropriate enteral and parenteral nutrition interventions to optimize clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation within UVA's integrated electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, case reviews, and internal education.
  • Foster a supportive, collaborative team culture that values autonomy, flexibility, and evidence-based practice.
  • Adhere to guidelines in the Company Diet Manual and Clinical Nutrition Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, including HIPAA and patient rights policies
