About The Position

Centra's Psychiatry and Behavioral Health provide vital and compassionate mental health services to our community through a variety of programs. We offer inpatient programs, which include an Acute Psychiatric Program for Children & Adolescents, an Adult Psychiatric Program, and a Geriatric Psychiatric Program. We also provide ambulatory services through Piedmont Psychiatric Center, Centra Pathways Treatment Center for those with substance-use disorders-related problems and Consult Liaison Services with two hospitals. In addition, we have our new Psychiatric Emergency Center (emPATH) which opened in October 2023 and has been incredibly successful. We have the first one in VA!Centra Health Behavioral Health Hospital is opening in Spring 2026. This 75,000 sq ft, 72-bed facility will feature open community spaces, therapeutic courtyards, and advanced clinical areas serving adult, geriatric, and child/adolescent populations. Requirements

Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training
MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty.
Must be board certified or board eligible.

Responsibilities

Multidisciplinary, collegial team: psychiatrists, psychologists, NPs, PAs, and counselors
Robust, comprehensive behavioral health ambulatory services
Vacation: 5.5 weeks ATO
Call is 1:14 and is mostly tele call, Overnight call is not for admissions; Nocturnist covers overnight admissions 7 days/week.
Weekend rounding only when on call; Hospitalists cover the inpatient unit on weekdays.
