This position involves teaching independent living skills to consumers and assisting with personal care as needed. Key responsibilities include maintaining communication with supervisors, developing and maintaining weekly curriculum, and planning and conducting daily classes and activities. The instructor will guide clients on their Individual Program Plan (IPP) objectives using positive reinforcement, ensure adherence to program guidelines (including Medicaid and DDS), and provide habilitation training. The role also requires completing various in-service and out-of-area training, attending meetings (potentially after hours), and ensuring compliance with policy and procedures. Daily tasks include transporting clients, attending annual reviews, maintaining detailed daily notes and documentation, and completing incident reports. The instructor will also supervise contract work, manage class supplies, provide active treatment, and adhere to proper lifting and transfer techniques. Maintaining a professional demeanor and strict confidentiality (HIPAA compliant) are essential. Driving for participant day trips is a regular requirement, necessitating periodic driving tests and potentially using a personal vehicle with adequate liability coverage. This is a safety-sensitive position.
