About The Position

This is the second of two levels in the Adult Day Care series. This position is responsible for operational oversight, ensuring the day care runs smoothly, including scheduling, logistics, and compliance with state regulations; determining program offerings; developing and implementing operating manuals; promoting service offerings to the community; providing information for the development of a budget; monitoring a budget; maintaining records; and preparing operational reports. Incumbents supervise lower-level Ajax Turner Center staff. PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT CITY OF CLARKSVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION EMPLOYEES. NO OTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED. MUST QUALIFY TO OBTAIN ADULT DAY CARE LICENSURE IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the job's essential duties.
  • Must qualify to obtain adult day care licensure in the State of Tennessee.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge of managerial principles.
  • Knowledge of program development and administration principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations, codes, and/or statues.
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in monitoring and evaluating employees.
  • Skill in prioritizing and assigning work.
  • Skill in planning, developing, supervising, and managing programs and/or events.
  • Skill in providing customer service.
  • Skill in preparing, monitoring, and administering budgets.
  • Skill in interpreting, complying, and ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records and reports.
  • Skill in using a computer and related software applications.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisors, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Assesses client needs, developing day care plans, and facilitating social engagement and activities.
  • Manages adult day care budget, billing, and reporting.
  • Communicates with clients, families, care providers, and other stakeholders as applicable.
  • Prepares a variety of operational records and reports.
  • May assist participants requiring help with personal care and/or mobility within guidelines of enrollment as necessary.
  • Performs other related work as required.
