About The Position

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a dynamic human services professional to serve as a Case Management Supervisor at the Quincy case management site. The Case Management Supervisor is responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of assigned case managers, ensuring that all DMH regulations and HR policies/guidelines are followed. The incumbent of this position also serves as Contract Monitor for contracted community programs. This position is 40 hours per week, working from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm on Monday through Friday, with Saturdays and Sundays off.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current and valid class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required for this function
  • Knowledge of the psychosocial problems of those with mental/emotional disorders.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of counseling.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to make case assessments by examining records and documents and through questioning and observing clients.
  • Ability to make decisions, act quickly, and maintain a calm manner in stressful and/or emergency situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and triage multiple competing demands.
  • Ability to be task-driven and maintain strong organization and time management skills to remain on task.
  • Ability to navigate systems and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation counseling, education or other a related field.
  • At least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, case management of clinical/therapeutic experience.
  • Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative and clinical supervision of case managers through individual supervision, administrative meetings, document review, and recording and evaluation of subordinates’ performance; initiating disciplinary action if needed; monitoring the ISP process to ensure timelines and regulations are met; ensuring the quality of documentation; providing direction and developing strategies toward resolution of challenging case managed cases.
  • Serve as contract monitor for the Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS) and mobile/respite contracts. This entails managing utilization & waitlists, entering enrollments and discharges into DMH database, reviewing and approving contract billing, monitoring services, participating in agency wide initiatives, and problem solving with vendor.
  • Participate in site-based meetings including leadership, supervision, service authorization, risk, level of care, staff meeting, as well as clinical reviews as needed.
  • Serve as site liaison and attend collaborative system’s meetings with community partners. This includes participation in standing meetings as part of the ACCS/Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) partnership.
  • Ensure compliance with critical incident reporting procedures and provide follow-up and supervision as needed.
  • Identify service gaps and facilitate programmatic changes through participation in site and DMH initiatives.
