About The Position

This is a casual, part-time position for an Adult Basic Education (ABE) Teacher. The role involves providing direct instruction to multilingual adults learning English in a Level 2-PM online setting. The position is for 10 months, with 73 days of work, and 5.5 hours per day. The schedule is Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Instruction will take place at the Metro North ABE - Brooklyn Center Adult Education Center.

Requirements

Current MN Teaching License, ABE license, or MATESOL/Applied Linguistics/Bilingual Ed degree.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment.
Ability to work as a team member.
Computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching online and using cooperative and collaborative teaching strategies during instruction.
Experience working with diverse populations and multilingual adults.
Experience teaching ESL.

Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction to multilingual adults learning English in level 2-PM online.
Lesson planning and direct instruction.
Conducting ongoing assessments.
Monitoring student attendance.
Attending staff meetings.
Collaborating with other staff.
Maintaining student records.
Supporting volunteers.
Use communicative and cooperative teaching strategies during instruction.
Use Zoom and Google Workspace for Education.
Integrate technology and implement the CCRS/ACES/Northstar standards.
Other duties as assigned.
