The Part-Time Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor provides high-quality, student-centered instruction to adult learners seeking to strengthen foundational academic, workforce, and college-readiness skills. The instructor plans, develops, and delivers standards-based instruction in areas that may include reading, writing/language arts, mathematics, digital literacy, workforce preparation, and other foundational academic skills appropriate to students' educational functioning levels. Instruction shall align with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) College and Career Readiness Adult Education Content Standards, applicable Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II/Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) requirements, National Reporting System (NRS) requirements, and Roanoke-Chowan Community College policies and procedures. The instructor supports students in developing the academic and employability skills necessary to achieve measurable skill gains and successfully transition to high school equivalency preparation, postsecondary education, occupational training, employment, and/or other identified educational and career goals.
