About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time Adoptions Specialist to join our team at our Papago Park Campus. This position works five 8-hour shifts, including weekend days, between the hours of 10:30 AM and 7:00 PM. At the Arizona Humane Society, our Adoption Specialists are experience makers! From creating online pet profiles to drum up interest in the pet to greeting our potential adopters and escorting them through our kennels to assisting in the matchmaking adoption process, they aim to provide a consistent, positive, and excellent experience every time! In this role, you will effectively assess the needs of potential adopters and match them with pets most suited for their lifestyle and preferences while educating them on their chosen pet(s) known history including all medical and behavioral insights we have acquired during their time in the shelter. Ensuring the adopter is educated about the pet's needs, including the recommendation of supplies in our retail store to start them out on the right foot is also an essential part of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED
  • Six months to one-year prior work experience
  • Requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Requires above-average clerical skills with the ability to complete paperwork accurately
  • Must be able to learn and demonstrate how to handle animals safely and humanely in all conditions
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service or animal welfare environment preferred

Responsibilities
