About The Position

Responsible for representing Kent State University to prospective students, their families, and school/community contacts. This position assists in the development of on-campus, off-campus, and virtual programs and activities designed to meet the needs of prospective students, families, guidance counselors, and campus partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years related experience.
  • Standard university recruiting and admissions practices
  • Sales and/or territory management techniques
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Verbal, written, and interpersonal communications; public speaking
  • Personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Work in a collaborative and effective manner with students, alumni, diverse families, administrators, and faculty
  • Work and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Manage a complicated daily, weekly, and monthly schedule with recurring important professional commitments on and off-campus
  • Travel regionally and/or nationally
  • Work nontraditional hours, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in student recruitment, education advocacy, or college counseling
  • Detail-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience within an institution of higher education
  • Knowledge of university-specific CRM systems; preferably Slate

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of on-campus, off-campus, and online recruitment programs and events for undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Represent the University to various internal and external constituents (e.g. prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, alumni, faculty, staff, administrative personnel); disseminate information regarding the University.
  • Provide admissions information sessions at the Kent State Tour Center to support guest check in and tour guide management.
  • Perform work on various special projects and assignments, including, but not limited to, admission publications, customer relationship management (CRM) software, communications, reporting, functions of application processing, and admission file review.
  • Travel for recruitment and related events as needed.
  • Serve as the Counselor on duty on a rotating basis responsible for taking and following up on incoming calls from prospective students, parents, and college counselors.
  • May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of Admissions Counselors, support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
