About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Nashville West is a Critical Illness Recovery Hospital (LTACH) seeking an Admissions Coordinator. This full-time role involves managing the referral intake and admission of all patients, ensuring smooth communication between departments and preparing for patient admissions. The Admissions Coordinator will be a champion of 'The Select Medical Way,' focusing on patient-first care, community well-being, innovation, and ethical practices.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a hospital, physician practice or insurance environment.
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology.
  • A High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience in third party insurance verification and knowledge of how benefits under the Medicare program are applied.
  • Previous experience as a customer service representative for a health insurance company or provider.
  • Previous experience with obtaining prior authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the referral intake and admission of all patients.
  • Stay in close communication with all departments to prepare for the day of admission.
  • Lead Conversion Call with Business Development team each morning.
  • Verify Medicare benefits and secondary/supplemental insurance plans of all referred patients.
  • Enter accurate referral, admission, denial and/or conversion data using various on-line programs and databases.
  • Ensure all deficiencies remain at 0% to eliminate holds and keep the hospital financially viable.
  • Communicate relevant data to clinical liaisons, case managers, prior authorization team, and physicians to help prepare for admission.
  • Serve as the point of coordinator on the day of admissions to guarantee that all equipment, medication and other necessities are present in the patient’s room.
  • Physically admit patient, give a tour of the facility, and receive signed consent to treat forms and file.
