About The Position

Wilmington Treatment Center is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Admissions Specialist to join their team. In this role, the Admissions Specialist will be the first point of contact for incoming patients, helping to create a welcoming and supportive experience as they begin their recovery journey. The Admissions Specialist is responsible for coordinating the patient intake process, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately, and supporting a smooth transition into care. This role plays a key part in delivering a positive and efficient admissions experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility)
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, hospital, or admissions setting is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach
  • College degree preferred
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in the mental health or substance abuse field.
  • Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC); Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CCDS) or Certified Employee Assistance Program (CEAP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly respond to inbound referrals via phone, fax, webform, etc. to assist clients and their family’s who are seeking treatment.
  • Review prospective admissions against approved admission criteria, policies, and procedures.
  • Initiate contact to gather required clinical and demographic data from patient and other sources.
  • Respond promptly to inquiry calls.
  • Schedule assessments.
  • Assist prospective patients and significant others in seeking treatment.
  • Refer inquiries to other agencies and community resources when not appropriate for facility assistance or admission.
  • Coordinate with referral sources.
  • Coordinate transportation arrangements for patients.
  • Responsible for maintaining all the documentation involved with the admissions process.
  • Perform other functions and task as assigned.
  • Complies with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintains organizational and industry policies regarding confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively to person(s) receiving services and their family members, guests, and other members of the health care team.
  • Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintains them over time.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
