About The Position

Oriana House, Inc. is seeking an Admissions Driver to ensure the safe and timely transport of inmates from state institutions and local jails to Oriana House, Inc. programs. This role involves reviewing client records for eligibility, conducting vehicle safety checks, searching client property, and accurately recording vehicle usage and travel information. The driver will communicate with supervisors regarding transport status and any issues, adhere to agency standards and laws for safe transport, and perform duties of a Scheduling Assistant as needed. A clean driving record and the ability to travel are essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid and current certification in CPR and First Aid required.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Must have a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance.
  • Must have the ability to travel to various locations to accomplish job duties.
  • Accuracy and organizational skills required.
  • Must have ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safe and timely transport of inmates from state institutions and local jails to Oriana House, Inc., programs.
  • Reviews client records for eligibility based on Agency criteria prior to transporting them to an Oriana House, Inc., program.
  • Provides client with sack meal if transporting during meal times.
  • Conducts vehicle safety checks prior to transporting clients or staff.
  • Thoroughly searches clients’ property prior to transport.
  • Monitors Agency vehicle use and maintenance needs and accurately reports any needs to Facility Manager.
  • Accurately records mileage, gas usage, travel time, and other pertinent information of transporting clients and staff.
  • Contacts supervisor when leaving the institution with an inmate and, if rest stops are required, notifies supervisor of location and of arrival/departure times.
  • Submits accurate monthly logs by the fifth of every month for each transport and documents monthly travel time to and from the institution, time spent at the institution, mileage, and gas usage.
  • Effectively communicates transport problems to supervisor.
  • Transports clients as directed and follows Agency standards, rules, regulations, and all laws for safe transport.
  • Performs the duties of a Scheduling Assistant as required.
  • Immediately reports any changes with driving record to supervisor.
