About The Position

The Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) makes connections and creates experiences with the next generation of Sooners by supporting domestic and international freshman, transfer, and concurrent students throughout the application and decision process. Our team operates from Norman and across the state, nation, and world, partnering with faculty, staff, parents, counselors, and communities to provide guidance and resources to prospective students. Our goal is to build a vibrant OU community by recruiting the most academically qualified students with a variety of educational, service, involvement, and community experiences. Responsibilities

  • Identifying, attracting, and enrolling prospective students through a variety of recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Serving as a key representative of the institution, building meaningful relationships with students, families, high school counselors, and community partners.
  • Supporting the Orientation and Pre-College Programs team by leading recruitment initiatives, developing targeted communications, and advising prospective students throughout the admissions and enrollment process.
  • Designing and producing recruitment materials, attending recruitment fairs, and supporting year-round Orientation programs for freshman, transfer, and concurrent students.
  • Serving as a liaison between the Office of Admissions and Recruitment (OAR), academic colleges, faculty, Information Technology, and local, regional, and national partners, ensuring coordinated and student-centered enrollment efforts.
  • Serving as a primary resource for prospective concurrent students, guiding them through the admissions process and facilitating application, enrollment, and orientation procedures.
  • Reviewing applications, conducting interviews, collaborating with the admissions team to make informed admission decisions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting college readiness initiatives through strategic event planning and outreach.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for prospective concurrent enrollment students from initial inquiry through enrollment, providing personalized guidance and support throughout the admissions process.
  • Advising prospective concurrent students on admissions requirements, assisting with application completion, and scheduling individual or group meetings as needed.
  • Serving as the direct academic advisor, alongside another coordinator, for concurrent students each semester they are admitted and want to take coursework with OU.
  • Representing the institution at college fairs, high school visits, community events, and on-campus programs to promote awareness and interest.
  • Planning, coordinating, and participating in on- and off-campus recruitment and yield events, including information sessions and presentations for prospective students, families, and stakeholders in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with high school counselors, community partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and evaluating applications for admission in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring adherence to institutional guidelines.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with prospective students via phone, email, text, and CRM to ensure engagement and follow-up.
  • Collaborating with internal departments such as financial aid, academic advising, and student services to support a seamless transition for admitted students.
  • Contributing to the development of recruitment strategies, supporting marketing efforts including publication development, and participating in cross-functional project teams.
  • Staying current on admissions policies, academic offerings, and campus resources; effectively utilizing the institution's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to track interactions and manage data.
  • Assisting with New Sooner Orientation for first time freshman, transfer as well as concurrent students.
  • Performing various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
