About The Position

Student Recruitment & Admissions at Simon Fraser University is often the front door for newly admitted students as they embark upon their academic journey. The Undergraduate Admissions unit is dedicated to an inclusive and accessible approach to admission, involving the processing and evaluation of student applications according to current admission standards and best practices on a global scale. We seek to be student-centred in our policies and procedures to meet a diverse applicant community and are proactive and responsive in our effort to support enrolment management at the institutional level. The Admissions Coordinator provides admission decisions in the evaluation of applications and transfer credits at a professional level, involving judgements based on complex criteria in alignment with Senate-mandated admission policies and practices. The Admissions Coordinator recommends operational and tactical improvements for undergraduate admission, supports the assessment and development of international and domestic admission requirements by analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and provides forecasts and briefing notes as required. In collaboration with the supervisor, the role develops, plans, implements and evaluates admission strategies in order to meet University enrollment targets while acting as a key contact for faculty level advisors and international agents. The Admissions Coordinator engages and builds relationships with stakeholders and partners across the University; collaborates and provides input on key issues and Initiatives such as admission, eligibility and institution level student services policies and processes ensuring that colleagues across the institution have up-to-date knowledge of admissions standards and best practices and provides advice on admission strategies as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related discipline, and five years of related experience, which includes experience in admissions, student recruitment, academic advising, enrollment management, and/or systems development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Outstanding knowledge of university policies and regulations related to student admission, academic programming, academic advising and services.
  • Outstanding independent judgment and discretion on complex/complicated undergraduate student admissions files that can impact the student experience.
  • Outstanding ability to pivot and reprioritize operations based on changing instructions and decisions which impact deadlines and strategic groups.
  • Excellent ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and exercise sound judgement with a high level of diplomacy and discretion.
  • Excellent in the use of enterprise level information systems (e.g., OnBase, PeopleSoft, Tableau, Salesforce, OnBase).

Responsibilities
